Yesterday I was standing up at the front because I had closed my register already. I was chatting with the guy that was working last night and he said “Those are two things you should never talk about: politics and religion.” Another girl working last night had said something to imply that this guy didn’t really believe in any God. Right after he said the comment about politics and religion, a lady came up to check out. She looked at the prices of cigarettes and said that she used to smoke once cigarette a day to help her go to sleep. One cigarette a day really isn’t that much (especially compared to a few regulars who come in daily to get 4 packs!). Anyways, she told us that she stopped smoking a long time ago. She had been praying for her son to stop chain smoking and ruining his body other ways as well. Apparently the Lord said, “I can help him, but just look at yourself.” So she stopped smoking. She told my fellow employee that “your body is a temple of the Lord and if you don’t take care of it, God will take it away.”
I don’t think the timing was a coincidence. Not only was it perfect timing considering his comment, but he also stopped smoking cigars 3 days ago!
Last night I also got to finally experience a few perks of working at Walgreens. There was a perfume that was discontinued, so the head beauty advisor gave it to me. Also, my manager shared some alligator meat with me that she was having for dinner. Yummy!
