Good morning, lovely people!
I am super excited that after five years I was able to quit my job at Walgreens! It has been a great place to work (I’ve worked at two different stores in two different states), but I also feel so blessed to be able to move on, have weekends free and find more fulfilling things to do with my time.
One thing I did during my free time was re-decorate our bookshelves. I found so much inspiration and tips on Pinterest…and then I realized that our bookshelves actually hold books. We read (although I will admit my husband reads way more than I do) and we also like to keep textbooks and the like. Needless to say, the inspiration and tips from Pinterest were not very helpful for someone who actually has books, and not just cute nicknacks on their shelves.
However, I did try to keep these tips in mind as I cleaned up the shelves and tried to make them more visually appealing:
1. Get rid of anything (if it isn’t a book) that doesn’t fit a color scheme.
2. Pick a color scheme based on the rest of the room (I went with red and mint/deep aqua since we have a red chair (and kitchen accessories) and a blue microwave stand). The way I did this was with fabric. I used some black frames we already had and bought three different fabrics to incorporate into the decor.
3. Make it look full, but not cluttered.
So here is the result:
