Dear Sophomore self,
Where do I even start? This year was a doozy, but you learned so much.
That roommate you found last minute? She’s a Godsend! But you already know that…
Why are you still dating that guy? You should probably listen to your parents on this one.
Spring Break PLIA trip to Toronto was a great idea! It wasn’t all easy, but what a great group of people doing such great work at Urban Promise! You will come back so tired, but so full. Thanks, team!
Girl, here’s the important part:
This year you will face the most challenging situation yet in your life. You will start out trying to solve the problem on your own. Then, when you realize you have little power over the situation and the people involved, it will be easy to despair. Despair because you have so little control, but also despair because you don’t 100% believe and trust that God can work in the situation either. It will take 20/20 hindsight vision to learn this, but I believe that although the situation might not have been resolved, relationships could have been mended if you had trusted God more and yourself a little less.
Having said that, I’m proud of you. You did get through it, you got adults involved before it was too late, and you eventually learned about yourself and God through it.
Once you get through this year, you’ll be past the hardest 😊
You older, only-a-little-bit-wiser self
P.S. You’re about to have one of the best summers of your life! British Columbia and California…old friends and [not necessarily old] family…mountains and oceans…and so much laughter!
