Dear junior self,
One day you will wake up, realize that boy’s no good for you, act on it the same day and never look back. It will hurt for longer than you thought, but once the hurt heals you will be so free.
I know you told your roommate that you’d like to date someone like that boy who lives down the hall…except he has to be more fun. Well, he’s way more fun than he seems, and you might just end up marrying him. He also might not be changing your headlight for you just because he’s such a nice guy…then again, he might be. 😉 So patience, dear heart.
I’m sorry it took a hard break up to realize this, but I feel like you finally know what you want. I am so proud of you for not dating anyone else until “the one!”
Aside from the difficult classes, this year will be so much fun! Those boys down the hall who you’ve already know for 2 years are real gems. The same goes for your roommates. But, you already know that.
Girl, just practice the piano. I know lessons are taking away the joy of playing, but you won’t regret it later in life. Hey, wasn’t it fun being an accompanist for a friend and having the opportunity to help him in his voice lessons more than by just playing the piano? Sometimes the ones in the spotlight need a little help too 😉 This on campus job is a skill you will use later in life, so the practice is good for you!
Wasn’t this the year you took voice lessons yourself? Just for fun? Well, I’m glad you stuck with it, but man did performing have you shaking in your booties! That might never be easy for you, but it doesn’t mean it wasn’t good for you.
I feel like this was the year you finally learned how to balance classes and friends and got to just enjoy the college experience and close-knit community that Dordt provides. It took you long enough! 😝
Your older, only-a-little-bit-wiser-self
